AIDA | The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities
Denver, Colorado | 2005

From the creators of The Lion King comes another blockbuster Broadway production. Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA updates a classic story of forbidden love with its rousing pop-rock score. Captain Radames, an Egyptian soldier, falls in love with the enslaved Nubian princess, AIDA. With their two nations at war, they must choose between serving their public obligations and following their hearts. Featuring a multi-cultural cast, exuberant dancing and singing, this contemporary musical is the perfect holiday choice for family entertainment. AIDA was nominated for five Tony Awards at the 2000 ceremony. It won in the catagories of Best Original Musical Score (Elton John), Best Actress in a Musical (Heather Headley), Best Scenic Design (Bob Crowley), and Best Lighting Design (Natasha Katz). Elton John, Tim Rice, and the AIDA 2000 Original Cast Recording were also honored at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards with the award for Best Musical Show Album.
